Where We’ve Been

Traveling purposefully towards an as-yet-unknown destination

Prior to FullTiming

The “dream” really started when I had an assignment to assess a couple RV parks in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. It was an easy assignment, after all an RV park is just a property with a bunch of parking spots that have utility hook-ups.

As I was touring the property with the maintenance person, Bob, we came around the corner and there was a huge, very shiny custom Prevost bus. I asked Bob what it was, and he told me the owner lives full time in it and travels the country, spending the summers up north, and all winter in Ft. Lauderdale.

I read an article in Motorhome Magazine about a couple who was taking a tour of Maine’s lighthouses and stopping in Boothbay Maine at the Shore Hills Campground and having freshly steamed lobsters delivered right to their campsite.

Ok, you have my attention, this is something we must try and what better way to learn about RV’ing. So, we rented a Class A and hit the road. I’ve never driven an RV before nor have we ever camped out, and surprisingly we survived!

After that successful trip, we spent two weeks the next year seeing all of West Virginia, and the one week the following year in Sandusky Ohio on Lake Erie.

We were then hooked and started working on our plan to hit the road.
