One of the drawbacks of a Class A RV is the Diamond Shield covering on the front cap. Diamond shield is a name brand of a clear vinyl protective film that many RV’s have installed to protect the paint. There are other similar products such as those from 3M, but Diamond Shield is the most common paint protective film in the RV industry. Over time the diamond shield will begin to yellow, get chipped up and even get some unremovable stains. The 3M product was also very prone to yellowing issues. And over time mold can develop behind the film.
Surprisingly, ours started having issues after spending a week getting repairs last year at the Newmar dealer. It continued to get progressively worse, to the point is was embarrassing.
Before arriving here in Gulf Shores I contacted a local company to schedule work to remove the covering, ceramic coat the front cap, wash, wax, and treat the roof, and wash and wax the remainder of the coach.
It was expensive, but well worth the cost. It took about a week of very tedious hand work to remove the film without damaging the paint. I think RV & More was very successful and highly recommend them to anyone needing their services.
