Catching up

It’s been a while since our last post, mainly because May was spent visiting with family and friends, and meeting the newest member of the family, our granddaughter.

Oma and Opa are very proud

While we were in Rhode Island, we visited the Mystic Aquarium to see the Beluga Whales (Debbie’s favorite)

June was a very busy month for work, but we were able to visit family in the Wappinger Falls area of New York. It was good to see Alex and go out to dinner a couple of times during the week we were there.

Leaving the northeast, we traveled to Intercourse Pennsylvania for a week. We were fortunate to find a spot in small campground next to an 80 acre Amish farm. I love hearing the clippity-klop of the horse drawn buggies as the travel down the road. It was a very relaxing week.

We left Pennsylvania and traveled south (ish) towards Hagerstown Maryland, spending two weeks at Hagerstown / Antietam Battlefield KOA Holiday. I will upload a campground review soon, but for now, let’s just say their website photo of our site didn’t match reality.

But we made good with what we had, and honestly it was quite enjoyable having our coffee outside in the mornings. We also spent one day being tourists and visited the Antietam National Battlefield. It was nice to be able to drive around the battlefield in air conditioning (it was 90+ degrees) and learn it’s history. I highly recommend if you’re in the area.

We are now outside of Stuarts Draft Virginia at Walnut Hills Campground. We have a great, very large, site overlooking the small lake. The site is actually called “The Overlook”, and it’s another great place for our morning coffee.

This past weekend we took a ride to Charlottesville and visited Monticello. Unfortunately, our tour got cut short when an intense thunderstorm rolled in and we were told to take the bus back down the mountainside or “shelter in place”. We chose the bus to be on the safe side. We did get to walk around the inside of the house.  The only things we didn’t get to see were the gardens and Jefferson’s gravesite, maybe next time if we’re ever back in the area.

So, now you’re all caught up with our travels. We leave Stuarts Draft on Saturday and after stopping outside of Wytheville Virginia for the week for work, we’ll then head into Tennessee for more adventures.

Until then,

Safe travels
