We left Sleepy Hollow RV Park and headed for Birmingham South Campground in Pelham AL. We had a nice site on a concrete slab with a little space between us and our neighbor.

During our stay we had an appointment to have the shocks replaced at Safe T Plus in Tallapoosa Georgia, about 110 miles east. Safe T Plus is the manufacturer of the steering control unit we had installed while in Ft Myers a few years ago. They also are a distributor for Sumo Springs also installed in Ft Myers, and the exclusive east coast distributor for Koni shocks . We stayed on their lot the night before our 8 AM appointment, and was heading back to Pelham around 10 AM. They really know what they are doing.

We continued north after leaving Pelham to one of our favorite campgrounds for the Memorial Day weekend (we actually stayed a week) . Singing Hills is a small campground run by a really nice husband and wife about five miles outside of Mammoth Cave NP. We had one of the best site in the park with no neighbors around

Leaving Singing Hills we again continued north to Indianapolis where we had a couple of repairs scheduled. Unfortunately the repairs didn’t go as planned. The first was at the local Ford truck center (the only one since leaving New Jersey we could fit inside). I wanted them to investigate the check engine light that appeared last October and remained on until a couple of weeks ago, and we were also overdue for an oil change. When I made the appointment i didn’t know about the major construction on this side of Indianapolis and they wanted me to be there by 7am. I’m not a morning person and no amount of coffee will make me break down in the dark in order to be there that early. Luckily, I found a mobile oil change company that comes to you and does the oil change. We had the oil changed in Las Vegas the same way, so I called and scheduled the appointment.
The other item I wanted to get fixed was the recent chip in the windshield. It’s just a chip and has not spread any since we left Tennessee, so I scheduled Safelite to come out and do the repair. The tech showed up earlier than scheduled and took a look at it. Unfortunately it on the curve portion of the windshield and he, along with his supervisor and another tech, said there is a 50% chance the the vacuum is applied the windshield will crack. Thanks , but no thanks. I will keep monitoring it and deal with is when it becomes a bigger problem.
On a good note, we did take a drive around Indianapolis. We were here three years ago and did the major attractions then, but we still drove around the speedway and then made our way over to the Two Chicks District Co. This is the store from the HGTV show Good Bones.

So tomorrow we leave Lake Haven Retreat where there is no lake but lots of gravel .

And continue north to Elkhart, where we will be have some major work done and will be out of the coach for a week. More on that next time.
For now, a couple of changes have taken place on this blog. The first is the “Where We Are” map that used to be non the left side of the pages. There was an issue with Google and their API changes that caused WordPress to change things , so now the “Where We Are” map resides on its own page.

The second change was just organization of the Campgrounds We Visited page. It now has dropdown for each state.

I hope you like the changes.
Until next time,
Safe Travels
