Maiden Voyage – Day 5 – Boothbay Maine to Monson Massachusetts

We left Boothbay on schedule this morning and on the way out of town we stopped at Edgecomb Potters.IMG_1826

Edgecomb has been around for close to forty years and is located in an old schoolhouse that was built in 1831.

They have a lot of really nice (expensive) stuff. I tried to get something for Debbie for the trip but she wasn’t cooperating.

We then traveled south on Route 1, to 295, then onto to Route 95. It was smooth sailing until we hit Route 95. For about an hour and a half we had serious crosswinds that made it difficult to keep the rig in the lane. We stopped once for lunch, and then a rest stop after crossing a bridge. Both time were very much needed breaks.

Eventually, we made it to the next campground, Sunsetview Farm Camping Area. Sunsetview would not be our first choice for a vacation place. The campground is a complete opposite of Shore Hills. The roads are gravel, and the sites are grass and not level. Also, it seems to be filled with mostly seasonal family campers. Our site was right across from the playground. However, it will do for a one night rest stop, but if there was a Walmart in the area I would have to think about whether or not to spend the money to stay here.

Tomorrow we push on to the homeless. Hopefully the winds will be at our backs and the wicked crosswinds will be part of the learning experience.
