Comments:
It’s not surprising that this is an expensive campground, being a KOA and its location. That being said, it’s well maintained, has lots of amenities, and friendly staff. Although one of the maintenance guys thought he was the sheriff and tried telling the crew that was detailing our coach they couldn’t be there (after I received approval from, and was recommend to them, by the office.)
As for Virginia Beach, there is lots to do here. I was stationed here in the early 80’s and the city looks nothing like it did back then. It is truly a resort city with miles of beaches and hundreds of hotels, motels, restaurants, and stores. Whatever you need, whatever you want to do, it’s here.
One warning though, Virginia Beach is home to Naval Air Station Oceana. It is the home of the Strike Fighter Wing Atlantic and Carrier Air Wings 1,3,7 and 8. (17 jet fighter squadrons). Be prepared If the “Sound of Freedom” bothers you. It is a Master Jet Base, and they fly almost everyday into the late evening.
