We started out today with breakfast at the local Watermill Restaurant, and left questioning how someone could mess up a breakfast buffet so badly.
We then went to Mammoth Cave National Park and took the Frozen Niagara cave tour. Granted, the tour is one of their smaller ones, but at our age, just getting in and out of a cave could be a major event. If we were 20 years younger and could spend a week in the park non-stop, we may have enough energy to see all 52,800 acres of the National Park complex.
Even though it was only a little more than an hour, it was a really great tour, with the two rangers providing a lot of information about how the park came about and how the 400 miles of caves all connect.

Today we started out with a better breakfast at the Cracker Barrel, and after that traveled north to Horse Cave, KY and visited the Kentucky Down Under Adventure Zoo. It’s a pretty small zoo and zoo’s go, but on a positive note, they rent golf carts, so no walking was involved!
They have a small assortment of animals. This is more of a road side attraction than an actual “zoo”. However, it was pretty cool to walk right up to a kangaroo and pet them. (We passed on the petting). It was really cool when we pulled up to the Laughing Kookaburra’s cage. It was just sitting there on its perch and Debbie said ok, now sing for us, and I’ll be dammed the bird started wailing away. If you never heard it before, check it out on YouTube
After leaving the zoo, we drove into town to check out the entrance to the Hidden River Cave. too many stairs to get down to the actual entrance, but it was really strange to see a cave entrance right in the middle of town.
We drove back to the campsite and sat around the rest of the day enjoying the warm sunshine and bright blue sky.
