Montgomery To Rogersville, Easter, and Tornado Warnings

 March 31, 2018 – Montgomery to Rogersville

Weather: Sunny, high 60s

Location: LAT 34.80472, LONG -87.32333

Today we traveled farther north to Joe Wheeler State Park in Rogersville Alabama.

We haven’t been to too many state parks, but this one has high ratings on RV Park Reviews, so we thought we would give it a try. So far, we’re really impressed. It’s a very nice place.

We’re only here for two weeks so we will have to choose what attractions we want to check out next weekend.

Happy Easter

Weather: Partly cloudy, 70 degrees

Location: LAT 34.80472, LONG -87.32333

We went to the restaurant at the park’s lodge for Easter dinner. They had a buffet style brunch with too many items to list. It was reasonably priced and was good. We’ll definitely check out the restaurant for another dinner during out stay here.

We then took a ride around the state park to check out the attractions. They have a really nice marina, and day use area right on the lake. As state parks go, this one is really nice and well run. They even have a golf course here!

After our drive around the park, we then headed into Rodgersville to check out the town and find the local grocery store. While on Main Street, we saw a very cool,  mint condition, Hudson drive past. You don’t see that everyday!

April 3, 2018 – Tornado Warning

Weather: Partly cloudy, 80 degrees, severe weather forecasted with incoming cold front

Location: LAT: 34.80472 LONG: -87.32333

Tonight around 10:30PM we experienced our first tornado warning. It was pretty freaky when the local emergency sirens and the weather apps on our phones and iPads all went off at the same time. The park rangers were driving around with their sirens on telling everyone to head for the shelters. We went up to the central bath house and stayed there for about 45 minutes. It got a little windy, and there was thunder and lightning, but luckily no tornado. One did touch down about 40 miles east of us in Madison County.

Wicked Weather

It was quiet the rest of the night with only rain showers.

Just a part of full timing.
