We left Prairie Oasis Campground and traveled 236 miles to our first overnight stop at USI RV Park in Wichita Kansas. We learned about this campground from a couple’s blog we follow who work camped there last winter. The campground is all gravel, well kept, and the staff was very friendly. It was a good place to stop after dealing with the heavy 20+ MPH winds all day long.
We hit the road bright and early the next day, and after 265 miles we finally made it to our home for the week at Hidden Lakes RV Park in Ardmore Oklahoma.
Hidden Lake is another nice campground with very friendly staff. The wifi was iffy at times, but all in all it was good enough to be able to do my work without any hassles.
One side of the park is full of seasonal and full time sites. I was surprised that the lake and the pool was closed for the season being that it was in the high 80’s all week. I can only guess that being October all of the summer staff must have gone back to school.
We went out to eat on Monday night to a local chain restaurant called The Rib Crib. Really good food and great service.
Our week at Hidden Lake came to an end and it was time to get back on the road. Unfortunately our next stop was our second disappointment of the trip so far. It was a short trip, 177 miles, to American RV Park in Corsicana Texas. We arrived at the park and they didn’t have a site for us even though we made our reservation in April (which is also when we paid). They could however put us in one of their “newly” built sites that just needed to be “landscaped”. Strange how these were “newly” built when they were on the site plan I downloaded from their website back in April. The only thing i can say about this park, other than the poor review I gave them on RV Park Reviews is don’t believe the photographs on the park’s website. It amazing how photos can be doctored.
Needless to say, we were really glad to hit the road early the next day.
Which brings us to where we are right now, Galveston Island RV Resort. The same state of Texas, but the complete opposite when it comes to the campgrounds.

The Galveston view looks amazing–nice place to hang out for a while! We passed through Houston on I-10 yesterday to get to Austin and saw some of the remnants of the flood. We usually stop over in Houston and stay with friends and make our way to Galveston, but missed it this trip. Safe travels to you! Dawn
Galveston has been beautiful Dawn. We’ve been here for almost a month now and it’s a great place to “have to work”. We’re heading east in a week or so with a stop in New Orleans, and then December in Savannah GA. We plan on heading back west after the new year with more stops in Texas before we hit the western portion of Rt 66. Maybe we’ll be in the same neighborhoods bay then 🙂 Safe Travels to you as well!
