Crystal Rock Campground

Welcome to Crystal Rock Campground

We had really great time at Crystal Rock Campground. If you’re ever in Sandusky Ohio, we highly recommend staying here. The campground is run by a husband and wife, who would go out of their way to make sure your happy. (The husband offered to drive us into town to pick up our rental car so we didn’t have to pay for a cab.)

I think the campground had just opened for the season because our section was nearly deserted except for a few seasonal campers and a few that pulled into the spot next to us for one night stays. The husband was always out doing something from sunrise to sundown and would always wave, or stop and shoot the breeze, when he drove past our site. Two of our next door neighbors arrived after the office closed, one at around 9:30 PM, and he was always there to guide them in. I wish I had his energy, the guy never stopped!

We stayed in spot A-4, a full hook up pull-through site. It was a level, gravel, site with a nice shade tree nearby. Except for the one night stay folks, the nearest camper was two sites away. Needless to say it was extremely quiet during our visit, which was really a good thing since our goal for this journey was to decompress.

As I said, we had three different neighbors during our stay. One young couple was from California and on their way to Maine in a small Class C. They left the next morning and planned on stopping at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (On our Bucket List). One couple in a Class A Georgetown was on their way to their home in Mystic Connecticut after spending time in Wisconsin. I was really impressed how effortlessly the wife pulled the coach into the site with their GMC Yukon in tow. The last couple were full-timers in a Winnebago Tour, who were on their way to Iowa from their home base in Pensacola Florida. It was really great to meet all of them and share stories of our travels.

Isn’t that what RV’ing is all about?
