Baby, it’s cold outside

The weather this week has been brutal. Monday we were hit with the (Non) Snowmageddon of 2015. Doom and gloom was forecasted, warnings of power outages, and reports of empty store shelves were constantly being aired on TV. It was to be the “Storm of the Century”.

Heeding the warnings, we were ready. We learned a lot about from Superstorm Sandy. We had the generator primed, and enough gas to run it non-stop for a few days. Since we have well water, if we lose power we lose water, so we had four five- gallon containers to get us through. Portable heaters to keep us warm, and fresh batteries in the emergency lanterns.  The snowblower and the lawn tractor with a plow blade were both filled with gas and started to make sure they were running smoothly.

We were ready. Bring it on Mother Nature!

Fortunately for us, Mother Nature changed her mind and we only got eight inches of snow and never lost power.

We were lucky, the emergency supplies can go back on the shelf for the next apocalypse.

My brother and his wife are in Arizona right now. Here’s a picture of their campsite.

We are seriously jealous and can’t wait till we go full-time so we can be somewhere where it’s 70 degrees in the winter.

Stay warm!

  1. Hope you were not too disappointed. But I can tell you wish you were some place else. We had a touch of frost one night this week. That was our winter. It has been in the 60’s and we enjoy having the windows open and feeling the warm Florida sun on us. Yup we are fulltimers and you have our best wishes that you will be too, soon.

    1. Thanks for stopping by Robert. I was not disappointed at all, actually quite happy. It seems the older I get the more I hate the cold weather. I would love to open the windows to get some fresh air but at 23 degrees with a 20 degree wind chill, that’s not happening. 🙂
Thanks for the best wishes. Maybe we’ll see you on the road one day.
      Safe travels

  2. We can’t believe how cold it’s been in Florida! When we went out the other day, I forgot where we were-thought we were back in Virginia!
